Shrek The Musical takes ‘ogre’ The Lowry in Salford for much of February, running from Tuesday, February 2 until Saturday, February 20.

It stars Dean Chisnall from Ormskirk, Lancashire as beloved swamp-dwelling ogre Shrek.

Dean played the role of Shrek in the West End and also starred as Gary Barlow in the musical Never Forget at the Savoy and on tour.

Damsel in distress, Princess Fiona, will be played by Bronté Barbé from Macclesfield, Cheshire. Bronté was selected as one of the final 10 in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for ‘Dorothy’ in the 2010 BBC 1 reality TV show Over the Rainbow.

Bronté previously played the role of Little Red Riding Hood in Shrek The Musical, before being promoted to the lead role of Princess Fiona.

Featuring all new songs as well as cult Shrek anthem ‘I’m a Believer’, Shrek The Musical brings all the much–loved DreamWorks characters to life, live on stage, in an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza.

Dean and Bronté join continuing cast members Idriss Kargbo, as Shrek’s wisecracking sidekick Donkey, and Gerard Carey as pint-sized villain Lord Farquaad.
