We’ve long known Blackpool to be the final frontier, a place where people boldly go to discover strange new life forms.
Now there’s another reason to plot a course to the North West’s favourite seaside resort: a series of events designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek.
A host of Star Trek-themed attractions and events are being hosted in the resort to mark half a century of Gene Roddenberry‘s fantastic space saga.
It includes a Star Trek film festival at the Winter Gardens, including screenings of the new Star Trek film, Beyond (until July 30) and Star Trek-themed lights at this year’s illuminations.
Another highlight among the attractions is an exhibition containing rare and authentic Star Trek collectives which will also be open in the resort until November.
There’s a replica of the bridge of the USS Enterprise – complete with Captain Kirk’s swivelling seat – and a range of costumes and props from the Star Trek films.
