Arrive to Manchester Dirty Dancing cinema experience with a watermelon and get in for free

For two days only, the famous Old Granada Studios, once home to some of the UK’s favourite TV shows, will become a unique cinema experience, showing one of the world’s best loved romantic films – Dirty Dancing. In a nod to the 1987 classic the first ten people to turn up to the event with a watermelon will be granted free entry.

The cinema promises live performances from professional dancers, an extensive cocktail menu and Dirty Dancing themed food served by waiting staff directly to your table, all for just £14.99 a ticket.

There is also the chance to get in for free for anyone who brings a watermelon with them, referencing the iconic “I carried a watermelon” scene from the film. However only the first ten people who arrive with the fruit will be allowed free entry into the event!

The event is taking place at the Old Granada Studios, once famous for being the home of TV shows including Take Me Out and Coronation Street.

The screening times are as follows:

6:30pm and 9:30pm

Saturday 11th February:

The Tickets to the Dirty Dancing film experience are £14.99 and include entry to the event, a complimentary glass of champagne at the door, waiting service to your table, an extensive selection of cocktails, the option to eat from the Dirty Dancing themed menu, a preshow DJ set, professional dance performances and a VIP seat.

There is also a free cocktail up for grabs for anybody brave enough to come dressed as Johnny and Baby.

General manager of the event, Stuart Barber, said: “This really is a different kind of cinematic experience with much more to offer than a normal film showing. We’re excited to see guests get into the Dirty Dancing spirit and turn up in costume with their watermelons!

“Lots of couples tend to go to the cinema for Valentine’s Day but we wanted to give them a unique and engaging experience that they wouldn’t forget. Dirty Dancing was the obvious choice. It’s iconic, fun but also very romantic.”
